Kaitlin Dougherty, AMFT

Kaitlin Dougherty is a compassionate and experienced expressive arts therapist who offers therapy for teens and adults in the Bay Area and online. With a strong social justice perspective, Kaitlin aims to help individuals heal psychological wounds inflicted by relational trauma and internalized oppression and create positive shifts in their lives.

Kaitlin specializes in sexual trauma, and enjoys working with members of the kink community, and people engaged in alternative relationship dynamics (ie. polyamory).

Also, many of Kaitlin’s clients are parents seeking support in building secure attachments with their children.

“I work in a holistic manner, meaning that I not only tend to the mental aspects of self, but also the emotional, physical, spiritual, and cultural aspects as well. I aim to help my clients heal their relationships between these different parts of themselves, so that they can feel safe and at home internally, which hopefully leads to feeling that way more externally too.”

A Message From Kaitlin Dougherty, AMFT:

“Hello! I am a Jungian psychotherapist, primarily based in the East Bay. I work with children, teens and adults. Most of my clients are people who have experienced being othered or marginalized, either by society or by family and friends. Many of my clients are queer, and/or neurodivergent, and/or have experienced trauma through abuse and loss. All of my clients are seeking to cultivate healthy relationships with themselves and others. Our work together aims to heal the wounds that get in the way of that happening.

As an east coast native, my approach is direct, while also warm and kind. I like to compare my approach to picking up a rock to see what’s underneath. In other words, I work with my clients to bring to light the parts of themselves that have been hidden or suppressed, so that they can grow to experience, and accept their whole Self.

If interested, please reach out to schedule a consultation call, where we can discuss what you're looking for and whether or not I would be a good fit. In any case, take care, and best wishes.”
