A Message from Tyrone:
Struggling to show up physically, emotionally, and socially at school or work? Overwhelmed with the thought that things may never get better? Or with the thought, "I'm better off alone?"  Many have been here and have had similar thoughts, including me. But if my 25+ years of working with youth, young adults, and families have taught me anything, it’s the incredible ability of a healing connection to create change, even when things are looking bleak. No matter where you find yourself, positive change is possible. It’s my belief that honesty, transparency, and open conversation can pave the way to a better tomorrow.

My strength as a therapist lies in helping you create moments of pause in your life. From this reflective space, I can help you sort through what brought you to this moment, and decide what you want to do next. Whether you’re looking for support, second chances, new perspectives, strategies, and tools, or just someone who believes in you, you are welcome here.

Understanding Your Unique Perspective and Struggles as a Black Male Therapist in California

Life's a journey with its fair share of ups and downs, and I get that firsthand. I'm not your typical therapist–I'm bringing to the table my life experiences as well as my training as a black male therapist to serve clients throughout California. My own journey has given me a deep understanding of the challenges life throws our way, no matter who we are.

Living in Sacramento, I've come to see the importance of talking about mental health, especially in BIPOC communities. It's not just about you and me; it's about acknowledging that the world throws all sorts of challenges our way, from systemic issues to cultural differences. And that's why I'm here–to create a safe space for anyone, no matter their background, who's looking to work on their mental well-being.

Let's talk about finding a therapist who truly gets you. Someone who's been through their own battles and can truly relate. That's where I come in–a therapist of color who takes pride in his identity as a black man. I understand the struggles, the strength it takes to persevere, and the richness of our various cultures. The impact of history, the little everyday slights–they all play a role in how we feel mentally. This recognition drives me to provide a safe and inclusive space for BIPOC individuals seeking therapy for improved mental health.

And yes, men's mental health deserves its spotlight, too. We often overlook it, as if discussing our feelings isn't something we should do. We’re told to “be a man,” to be strong, to avoid showing weakness. I have experienced the impeding and consistent pressure of this expectation all my life. I have learned how to identify the fallacies in its premise, and I have also learned to acknowledge the truths associated with the statement.  It's crazy, but striking a balance between the two is a daily task and I have much practice that I'm eager to share.

So, if you're ready to take that first step – reach out. Let's start with a conversation, and let's figure this out together. Deciding to come to therapy is about more than just feeling better; it's about embracing your confidence, nurturing better relationships, and excelling in every aspect of life. Can't wait to connect!
